TOEFL Prep Course

The new TOEFL is an internet–based test (TOEFL iBT); it evaluates the four core language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Testing speaking skills is a new feature of the TOEFL iBT. Also new is that every problem tests as many as three language skills at once.

This course* helps students to develop their test taking skills by:

  • Practicing individual test sections of the TOEFL iBT
using the integrated skills test format
  • Learning techniques to build vocabulary
  • Reviewing key grammar points
  • Improving listening comprehension skills
  • Writing and receiving feedback on practice essay
  • Taking a complete practice test of the TOEFL iBT
  • Receiving individual instruction in small classes

During the Fall & Spring semesters, this course meets three hours a week for seven weeks of each session; during each Summer session, this course meets every day for one hour. Please contact the Program Coordinator at iep@olemiss.edu for dates and costs!

*Please note that this course alone does not satisfy the requirements for meeting the hours of study required on a student visa.

More information on the TOEFL ibt can be found at www.ets.org/toefl5.html.
